Derry: End in sight
Shaun Derry insists he and his fellow team-mates will take nothing for granted against struggling Sheffield United.
Rangers play host to the beleaguered Blades in front of the live Sky Sports cameras on Monday evening and the R's midfield-general believes the table-topping Hoops will have to be at their very best to beat a United side who have enjoyed victories over Nottingham Forest and Leeds United in recent weeks.
"Their results against Forest and Leeds epitomise what this league is all about," Derry told www.qpr.co.uk.
"It's so tight - it's ridiculous this season.
"We're top and they're struggling in the relegation zone, but I don't see that having any kind of impact on the night."
Derry - who made 83 appearances for United between January 1998 and March 2000 - still holds the Blades in a very high regard and is sad to see their current plight.
"Clearly it hasn't helped that they've been through so many Managers this season," he said.
"There's been too many changes and that never helps matters.
"I look at the names on their team-sheet and ultimately they have underperformed this season, but that doesn't mean to say we'll take them for granted.
"They've got some useful players and we'll need to produce the goods again."
With Rangers sitting pretty at the top of the table, Derry admits he would be 'foolish' not to dream of a return to the Premier League, adding: "We just need to continue what we've been doing all season.
"If we get the basics right, the rest will fall into place.
"We're a close knit squad and that has served us well all season long.
"We'll approach the run-in like we have every single game of the season.
"We know the end of the rainbow is in sight and the pot of gold is on the horizon.
"It's up to us to make it happen.
